The Newborn
Raise, a few seconds old. Already pulling a face at the world.
One track, seven worlds. Raise raps his way from the delivery room to the snow.
Raise wanted a video for «Vendetta» that carries the energy of the track from the first second to the last. Every verse got its own world.
He is born in a delivery room and already pulling faces. He races a silver car of the fifties, throws a party on a superyacht, jumps overboard and keeps rapping under water. He shares a sofa with a leopard in a club, fights as a gladiator in a full arena and ends in the snow, between rappers frozen in ice.
In every world the face is his and the lines are his. Raise performed the whole track himself, and the worlds were built around that performance.
Filmed once on playback. Everything around him was generated.
Raise was filmed in the studio, take by take on playback, each take thirty seconds long and overlapping the next by four. Posture, gaze and mouth had to match the shot that would follow; room and clothes did not matter. Each take became the motion guide for the video model, so his performance carries every generated shot.
Every world started as sheets: Raise in each costume, his face in each one, the car, the yacht, the leopard, the club, the arena, the ice. Built once, they kept him the same person from the first frame to the last. Edit, colour and the timing to the beat were done by hand.
Raise, a few seconds old. Already pulling a face at the world.
White helmet, goggles, a silver car of the fifties. Raps with one hand on the wheel.
Bronze helmet, a gold chain over the leather. The arena is full.
Every shot started as a sheet.
Raise in every costume, the car, the yacht, the leopard and every world he passes through, each built once so it looks the same in every shot. Turn the sphere, open one, read the start of the prompt behind it.
